Paging Karen Morgan! 😁 changes the entire vibe with a British accent vs. a demented Southern one! “Y’all, look at Lisa’s hair!” 😂😛 If you know, you know…
I don't think she was that bad, certainly not by today's standards. No different than Martha Stewart. She was there to do a job, have a strong opinion as she always did, and give a good performance. Well done.
I fully believe she was livid after reading that article. I bet Sarah got the beating of her life that day.
I saw this episode in October 1978. I beleive it was a repeat because it originally aired a year ago (1977)
If the kid was smart he would asked the girl to wait in the living room until hes done with his cereal, then once shes gone he could go upstairs and she wouldn't see his tighty whities
Frightful snobbish old hag
I love Graham Kerr!
Finger in the sorbet for absolutely no reason, just to say "forgive me, I've just washed my hands"
I just learned about this incident by accident while reading about the discovery of Sheena Easton on the same show. I immediately went to find the footage and at first I didn't think it was that bad. But it kept getting worse. And worse. And worse. I'm really glad she stood up for her dish though and from my understanding the dish recipe went on to become quite famous and was published in a cookbook.
I personally found her delightful in this, the other woman was the Bitch.
In another episode & the other side of the coin was a comedian got a guest spot on Seaside Special & got complimentary advice from Morecambe & Wise & Arthur Askey who joked he could use some of the guys gags.
“Too rich”. From a woman who put mincemeat in omelettes and whole raw eggs and cognac into onion soup 🤣
Woman was a utter clown
Fanny must of been on unsupervised Day release from the Mental Hospital! 😅
Terrible overbearing domineering woman who always wanted to be the centre of attention. I was glad when this show first aired and showed her up for the horrible woman she actually was. it finally got her off the telly for good.
Two women in a kitchen doesn't, work. This is all about revenge by the wicked Craddock
Remember to make sure all your doughnuts look like Fanny’s.
Fanny what a nasty piece of work...this was her last TV performance before being dropped... 😂😂😂
They forgot to mention that the housewife was also very rude to her first, making faces at her food and ignoring obvious advice, then going to the guest of honour and asking him if he would have preferred her desert or Fanny’s. If you see the whole program, the housewife was the biggest b%tch. For the whole show, we had to listen to the housewife say ‘it’s a shame we didn’t do mine, mine is better’ (a coffee cream thick with sweetener and lard after duck with jam and seafood cocktail 🤮) instead of Fanny’s sorbet. She was extremely arrogant and thats what triggered Fanny til she could take no more. I’d like to see a woman do now what she did back then on rations. Respect due.
Gwen , the lady Fanny is trying to talk to ,only really drinks blood from young virgins. She is clearly a vampire .Those teeth could cut diamonds .
Seafood cocktail? And then straight into the duck?🤢
AND all this without an apron!! Respect Fanny!!
Fanny was right. Seafood cocktail does not go with duck and the desert was not a good choice. TOOOO fatty and rich. You ned acidity with duck to break the fat up!
Why does she always refer to the french manor!?? Fanny we know you are half or atleast were half french but hell women this is Britain!
* manner not manor 😅😮😊
I always felt, and my mind has not changed, that Esther Rantzen was really responsible for this. The Big Time was her show, she had editorial control and she was known for being one of the biggest b!tches in the business. Remember, she effectively ended a few careers in her time, with the help of Desmond Wilcox, the producer she seduced and took him away from his wife, later marrying him. And don't forget her smokescreens, Silverline and especially Childline, created to protect some very powerful BBC names. She claimed she suspected Savile and co were at it but couldn't speak out. Someone with her power at the time could have done it and survived. The fact she didn't says it all.
There is this thing called a sink where you can wash your hands.
Poor Gwen Troake. She tried so hard to be civil and was just pulled apart. So unfair.
She wasn’t nor isn’t rude at all! She’s a critic, it’s her job or was. Sadly on those days she was considered as rude because people couldn’t handle her harsh truth. Like history reversed because in todays era people can’t handle honesty and politeness because it’s considered once again as rude. I love adore her adulation skills. She’s a pro in what she did👌🏼…. A perfectionist…. All love and respect for this lady.
Well said.
She was rude as hell. There would have been a million ways to make her point more tactfully. She was also incapable as a mother and broke the law with her bigamous marriages. But by all means go on defending the old bag if you want
She was a raving alcoholic, bad mannered and rude...
@@Dbdbe1 like I said like I do…. Still if you don’t like it or not she is right
I remember watching this episode as a kid at the time. The horse riding ghost totally shit me up!
Honestly I love Fanny.😂 I think she may have been “too much” for people, especially the reserved British, in the 20th century. It seems that she genuinely wanted to educate people about food pairings and the ‘why’ behind cooking. I’ve been learning a lot from watching her old reels and feel like she’s upped my cooking game quite a bit with little tips and tricks. She really was quite the genius in the kitchen….plus I’m a loud Leo so I very much appreciate her larger than life personna💐
She was a rude frustrated cow.
She was so fucking horrible, I love her.
What is the very last word Fanny says here?
"I wouldn't use quite as much Fennel!" It's a type of herb.
@@ChristopherSobieniak Right after she says that. I think she says ketchup actually now that I hear it again.
@@Zoe-dr5ps Oh well, I figure it wasn't as important as what she said before since she was getting ready to eat. The music starting at that point certainly plays it out.
@@ChristopherSobieniak oh aye it really does. Aul Fanny must have loved a wee bit of ketchup on her chips. The old bag 😂😂
She became too arrogant for her own good. The public turned on her after this performance and her 1975 Christmas cookery show and this became her last appearance on tv.
People who were outraged by Fanny’s conduct at the time and still are . Are probably the same mob who ignored Saville and Harris’s behaviour . Fanny was finished off with the 70s. Harris and Saville continued their evil and perverted conduct on the BBC pay roll well into the 21st century
Just love Fanny Xmas 70s simple times Beano and Shoot annuals Lego Meccano Raleigh bikes ...and everyone getting the exact same as everyone else those were the days 😎👍.
We like what we like. Gwen was kind and humble.....Fanny was absolutely RANCID to this lady, and I'm so glad she lost her 'pontificate'...Bring on Dame Delia....❤
Bye Bye Fanny you came from nothing to a big name that you ego got the better off and you died with no one at your funeral
she wasent even that rude. xonsisering this was the show that was her downfall. that is a VERY rich menu. She's right, she was just blunt with it, which as a professional chef, your going to be
This was the downfall of this arrogant self opinionated woman. and the public let her know.
An extraordinary scene which quite rightly destroyed Fanny’s career.Yes,it is important to be truthful but there was no cause to be so explicit and (even if unintentional),cruel.
a 9/12 inch 48 year old sailor called William. ha ha ha, wtf.
Gwen Troake is still alive and living in Devon at 97 years old! Gwen said Fanny was a lovely lady and she has fond memories of that day's filming.
Didn’t her granddaughter get murdered in 2011 by her neighbor and everyone blamed the landlord just because he “looked funny?”
@@giovannirastrelli9821 Yes, I remember something about that Does anyone know the story?
@@JohnSmith-su3ze Look up “Vincent Tabak.”
Absolute nonsense! Gwen Troake died only a year after the programme was made, in 1977/8
@giovannirastrelli9yes her grand daughter Joanna Yeates was murdered in 2011.
Prawn cocktail, duck and coffee cream sounds alright to me 😂
Maybe so, if your name's Abigail and your mum Beverley is having a soirée with the neighbours Sue and Ange!
This is a fine display of English snobbery at its worst. Fanny is being a complete fanny
This ruined her career.
Bloody cancel culture! All those woke snowflakes ruined this woman's career. This never would have been an issue back in The Day. 😂
I hate being dramatic. I'm gay and I happen to be one of the stereotypically camp ones. I hate it, but I can't help it. I rather enjoy her cookery shows (Delia is so much better, though - the kindest person of all letting even the most stupid of us how to make a nice meal; pure love Delia), but I feel so sorry for anyone who's ever had to deal with her. We all know she died the loneliest old lady ever. As much as no-one should die alone, she deserved it. Even one of her sons said so (the other probably died before having the opportunity). If you don't care about your kids, that's one thing. If you only ever use them, it's a fact - you're a piece of sh...
Polite? Good? No she was a narcissist
Rude nasty narcissistic woman who did not deserve to be on the BBC
Love her. Absolute legend.
